Of the shrillest of the Right Wing Blogosphere, many of them seem to belong to either NARN (Northern Alliance Radio Network) or the MOB (Minnesota Organization of Blogs - newer bloggies hoping to be invited to speak on NARN). GIMEC is much like the puppy in There's Something About Mary. "So, you're the tiny fellow making so much noise."
NARN is a group of Think Tankers and Frat Boys put together by Commissioner Hugh (Hewitt) to fill in for him when he takes long vacations. (See also "Hughbris")
NARN's radio frequency can be heard for nearly 30 minutes driving radius of the Twin Cities. NARN's blog influence unfortunately is much wider.
NARN consists of
Powerline, The Frat Boys, The Scholars, The Captain, Newhouse's James Lileks (and the Star Tribune, yeah, I don't get it either), Spitbull, and Mitch Berg.
MOB has many members on their blog roll.
prune their ranks to only those who agree on every front
Why is this important? Because once one (usually Powerline or Hugh) makes a statement, it runs through the MOB to the NARN or vice-versa, and back around. Once it makes it back to the begining, it is then called news, and if it is not seen in the MSM, you have liberal bias. News is no longer measured by accurracy but by google hits. And these people make a lot of hits. Which is ironic, as they all fit in the non-smoking section and bar area at an Irish Pub (including their significant others).

Cute little blog you have here. "Power Liberal", with six hits a day - hey, ambition is good.
Hey - you say that "News is no longer measured by accurracy but by google hits. "
OK - so what's some "news" on the NARN/MOB etc that's actually been "inaccurate?"
You wouldn't be just blowing smoke up everyone's skirt, would you?
Please respond with actual information.
XOXOXO
Good analysis of the propogation effects of the Powerline/Hue propoganda.
I think what they practice is a kind of trawler troll. By throwing a huge net out there under the authority of their gurus, they hook people into paying attention to their garbage.
"Good analysis of the propogation effects of the Powerline/Hue propoganda."
If by "Good Analysis" you really mean "Paranoid fantasy".
"I think what they practice is a kind of trawler troll. By throwing a huge net out there under the authority of their gurus,"
Interesting mixed metaphor, that probably comes closer to the truth than you intended. You imply that the MOB is some sort of autarchic hierarchy; it is in fact not only anarchic, but in fact includes left-wing (Rocks Off) and moderate (Centrisity, Centerfeud) bloggers
"they hook people into paying attention to their garbage."
This is a curious statement. If it's "garbage", how does it hook people? People are too stupid to discern garbageosity?
The more you people talk, the less sense you make.
Oh, I didn't finish a statement; sorry to double-comment, I don't normally.
You mixed a metaphor, and I said that it was probably closer to the truth that you, being probably somewhat vocabulary-challenged, intended: "I think what they practice is a kind of trawler troll. By throwing a huge net out there under the authority of their gurus". Gurus are by nature voluntary; gurus draw people to them because they offer something their disciples want or need. Ipso MOB!
Honestly, the 6 hits is really unfair. I would say that at least 4 of those are either me or my boyfriend. And the rest are pretty evenly divided between people who accidently hit the "next blog" button on Blogger and people who are googling and misspell Robitussen as badly as I do. But thanks for stopping by. I have nothing but respect for the MOB. I may not agree with all of their viewpoints and tactics, but I admire their organizational skills and media savvy.
Rew- The "pruning" of the MOB that you speak of was not as a result of differences in viewpoint. As THOAG already pointed out, there are a number of MOB members who do not share our political views.
I understand. And I don't agree with some of her ways of making her point, especially the drudgeing up of old comment posts. But when I'm told that Rocks Off is a liberal you let in, and I have to go back over a month to find a post about politics, I begin to doubt your sincerity. Although I do appreciate having him pointed out to me, as he is unbelieveably funny. I must read him more often.
Rew- What about Flash from Centrisity? Despite the name, his blog is hardly centrist in nature. He's as rock-ribbed a Democrat as they come.
Okay. I have just spent 3 hours reading two weeks to one month of every blog on the MOB blogroll.
You have 60 blogs on the MOB roll (I am not including any NARNians). If you take out the 4 non-political blogs, you have 56 political blog. Of which I found 3 blogs that are liberal leaning. And I'm including Rocks Off, even though there was no political content in the last month.
You can see where I would get confused, since my odds of hitting a non-right blog by clicking randomly on the MOBroll are about one in 13.
I like the "Rock Ribbed" Democrat description, though. Is that what I get after I do my "Abs of Dean" workout for three weeks?
Rew- I thought Dean's tape worked on toning your vocal muscles.
You are right that most of the MOB blogs that have political leanings are on the right side of the aisle. But that's only because we haven't had more lefty bloggers ask to be a part of the MOB.
No one has been turned down for admission and Eva is the only one who was asked to leave (because of her ethically questionable actions-not her views).
I have stricken the pruning sentence. I have left it up in strikethrough in memory of my ignorance.
I am sad though, as now you have no reason to come back and visit.
Hey, this is how traffic starts.
So join the MOB. Help balance the slate! The MOB was, and is, intended to be ecumenical, and largely (but not completely) social. We don't generally talk politics at MOB get-togethers, although when we do it's a blast.
But what good is traffic if no one will submit an ipod playlist? /sigh
Re: Lileks' inclusion in NARN...what don't you "get?'
He is a little, bald neo-con who spouts neo-con crap on radio and writes vile and vicious righty screeds for syndication on Newhouse news service while posing as a harmless nerd in the Strib
