Japanese develop 'female' android
Japanese scientists have unveiled the most human-looking robot yet devised - a "female" android called Repliee Q1.
She has flexible silicone for skin rather than hard plastic, and a number of sensors and motors to allow her to turn and react in a human-like manner.
She can flutter her eyelids and move her hands like a human. She even appears to breathe.
Professor Hiroshi Ishiguro of Osaka University says one day robots could fool us into believing they are human.
I'm just going to let you write your own jokes for this one. All I'll add to it is, science, you're out of the doghouse for now. But if the next story out of Japan is that they've developed a 'tentacle' robot, well, it's right back in the doghouse you go.
(if you didn't get that joke count yourself lucky)
Here's a link to the Osaka University Repliee page if you're curious. It's in English, but the load is slooooow.
