A whole new world
The Munch finally got crawling down yesterday. Which meant she ended up in prison.

Today, I turned the gate around to keep her from the entertainment center, which fascinates her, and let her go nuts.
The biggest joy of the crawl is that now she can chase the cat. Really, Really slowly. This hunt took almost 7 minutes...

Hectic
The past few days have been a hectic whirl, so sorry for the lack of updates. Friday night I went out with the girlfriends for a bit, and Saturday I spent the entire day at the Minneapolis City Convention. Smartie and his dad did the posts of our new deck while I was gone. And yesterday we spent grocery shopping, baby clothes shopping (Munch outgrew most of her pants again), and book shopping (with a birthday brunch squeezed in). Smartie and I got some books to read at the cabin, and Munch got 3 books, Monster at the end of the Book, Gingerbread Man, and Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, and alphabet book we used to have from the library. We read all three last night, although Smartie seemed a little disturbed by the fact that the Gingerbread man got eaten.
But it all must have been too much excitement, as Munch woke up at 4:45 this morning, and did not want to go back to sleep. It took a bottle, a change, and 30 minutes of cuddling before she would pass out and I could go back to sleep. Right about the same time as the cat started howling in the next room.
So we'll see if that was make up for over sleeping yesterday, or if she's under rested today, which will mean lots of crankies. Too soon to tell right now, as it's all smiles and exercises so far...

5 months
please dial a number...
Smartie and I are building a deck, and this weekend we plan to put down the footing. Like all responsible homeowners, we need to call and have our power/gas lines marked before we dig, so this morning I dialed 811, like the commercial on tv tells us to...
...but it took me three times before I got something other than a busy signal. However, once you get through, you find out that 811 is only for Wisconsin. If you are calling from any other state, you are asked to hang up and dial 1-800-258-0808...
...which, once you call, you then enter the state you are calling from. In Minnesota, you then are told to hang up and call 1-800-252-1166...
...which, when you dial, you are told that because you are local, you are not allowed to use the toll free number, and should hang up and dial 651-454-0002...
...which I did, and the line was busy.

A Correction
Previously, Powerliberal ran a post stating that Munchie was attempting to pull herself up on her bouncer.
Upon further inspection, it appears the baby was simply trying to get as close as possible in order to eat said bouncer.

Powerliberal regrets its error.

Thank you, Ashwin Madia
I want to say thank you to Ashwin Madia, future third congressional district congressman, for stopping by drinking liberally tonight. It looks like if Munchie would vote for you, if she could.

However, she's not in your district...

Weekend update
All in all fairly good, although I'm still sick. I've had a sore throat for a week, and it left and now I have a cough. Friday I learned how hard it is to be sick when you have a baby -- normally I would just tell my office I need the afternoon off and sleep it off wrapped in blankets on the couch. But Munchie, sensing my weakness, decided to go full throttle cranky mode. Once daddy made it back home, she was angel girl again.
Saturday was my couch day, instead. By Sunday I was feeling good enough to go shopping -- over $200 dollars at Target, all for the baby. Most of it was formula, a good chunk of the rest was diapers, and then new sleepers and onesies since she outgrew the old, as well as a couple of hats, since her daddy's don't fit her.

Yesterday, we started her on oatmeal, which as you can tell from the post below she loves.
Sunday was a big day for me in the newspaper, where I was somewhat mentioned in two different sections. One was kudos for Minnesota Monitor. The other was Chris Farrell calling me a doofus in the business section.
So all in all, I'd call this weekend a wash.
