the greatest of all shocks

After 2 months, there's activity at The WOMB!

Franken by 50...

Crazy. The canvassing board has just finished, and now Franken is actually ahead by 50 votes.

Since I'm starting to think that the chances of any of the wrongfully rejected absentee votes getting counted at this point is extremely unlikely thanks to Coleman's "I only want to count them if they are likely to be votes for me" attitude, I think we may finally have a senator. Maybe. Hopefully.

Sorry, things have been busy in work and non-work land. Here are some pictures from Munch's first birthday, the trip to Elf Life at Macy's, then her party the next day.

Can we get Munch in the paper?

I'm not sure if they already picked their photos, but thought I'd try.

Click here and rate her Santa picture a 5, and we'll try to keep her in the "best rated" slot. Cribsheet says they'll be running photos on Saturday, so maybe we can get her in the paper for her birthday party!

And if you still want to come, it's not too late to RSVP. Drop me a line and I'll add you in.

With avoidance comes old favorites...

I'm supposed to be writing an annual report right now, something I've unfortunately discovered is much like writing your yearly Christmas card, except with no cute kids or fun vacations to use for padding. Since I'm totally stuck at this moment, I'm refreshing an old favorite...

Checking in with the Lovely Ladies!

And, oh how I missed them. I can think of no greater threat to America then the men in this picture...

Also via the Ladies, this terrifies me...

Chicagoans Melody LaLuz, 28, and Claudaniel Fabien, 30, shared their first kiss Saturday at the altar. The two teach abstinence at the city's public schools and practiced what they preached to their teenage students.

The Chicago Tribune reports that the couple had never kissed and that they had never been alone together in a house.

Never kissing I can maybe see. It would be horrible to realize the person you planned to spend the rest of your life with was a bad kisser, but I suppose that can be worked on.

But the "never been alone together in a house" part scares me for what it implies -- this couple has spend virtually no time just the two of them, alone, amusing themselves. It stands to reason that their entire dating life has taken place in the public eye and, although you can be alone in public, you are never really alone, are you? I can't imagine marrying someone that I haven't been able to spend one on one time with -- talking about the future, planning out our lives, discussing our potential family or arguing about the budget. These are things you do alone, not when you're at a back table in a coffee shop or waiting in line at a movie.

Then again, it could have all been a stunt. After all, the Chicago Tribune found out about it somehow...

And, to not bore the family, who are just hear for the pictures, here is Munch and her cousin hearing "Goodnight Moon" for the 4th time on Thanksgiving.

An Open Letter to TPTtv

Dear Twin Cities Public Television,

Well, I have to be honest. I feel a little betrayed right now. I just heard the announcement that you are ending the broadcast of you Children's Channel next week. Sure, you tell me, I can still catch kids programming on the regular channel, but we both know that's not the same.

Before, I knew I always had you if I needed to grab a quick, educational, commercial-less show for Munch to watch while I checked my email, caught up on a phone call, or made her a quick meal. Whyatt, WordGirl, that obvious stoner-sloth from It's a Big World to keep her a little busy.

You claim this will make very little difference in coverage for children, and that there's only two hours that they would be awake that would be effected. Yet, when I look at your channel two schedule for today it begins adult programming at 9 am. Unless, of course, you think my child has been waiting for a show like "New Yankee Workshop" for all of her short life.

I gave you money, man. I never did that before. I knew we wouldn't be together forever, but I thought at the very least we'd outlast my yearly membership.

Thanks for ditching me to the likes of Sponge-Bob. I freaking hate that nasty squid...
